Missions is About “Doing”
Everyone at VBS will be given opportunities to contribute to the mission’s effort for Lima, Peru. We will be supporting a team that is going to Peru in August 2009. They will be showing the love of Jesus by doing and helping.

How are we helping Peru?
Our goal is to raise $20,000 in offering money to support the medical campaigns sponsored by the church Camino de Vida. The campaigns provide people with necessary medical supplies and information, such as dental care.

Why is it important to support the campaigns?
Caring for the needs of the community is a way to teach them about the love of God. The medical campaigns provide free medical care for some basic needs. The church Camino de Vida in Lima helps to provide the needs by working together with Mariner’s Church to help the families.

What should my child bring? What we will be collecting?
• Travel-size tooth pastes (3 ounce)
• Regular-size toothbrushes (soft or medium)

The Schedule
Monday:
• Learn about the needs of Peru
• Understand the medical needs of the Peruvian children
• Activity: Learn Christian song in native language
• ADL: Wash clothes from today by hand, hang dry them, and re-wear them this week. 

Tuesday:  Picture Day
• Create pictures/letters that will be given to Peruvian children

Wednesday:
• Learn about Peruvian culture
• Understand that I can make a difference
• Taste food native to Peru
• Activity: Do as they do: cultural activity
• ADL: Use only one gallon of water for the entire day

Thursday:
• Learn what it means to be a missionary
• Understand that we are all in it together
• Activity: Learn Peruvian dance moves  
• ADL: Teach a friend or family member the dance moves you learned this week

Friday:
• Celebrate the medical supplies collected that will be used in Peru
• Understand that prayer makes a difference 
• Activity: Prayer bracelet 
• Commission the Peru missions team and be commissioned to share the gospel
